Bushtukah Women’s Only Metric Century Clinic Application

Thank you for your interest in the Bushtukah women’s ride your first metric century clinic. This is a free clinic, and spots are limited. 

We’ve planned a series of rides, of increasing distance, over a variety of great local roads for the next few months – and yes, these include an outing up to Champlain Lookout! Our goal century will be in mid-September.

To help make sure we have a group of riders who are well matched for riding together (both in pace, skill level and motivation), please answer the questions below. 2016 Events- S.W.E.E.T.

The Sporty Women’s Empowering Evening of Tips and Advice (SWEET) is a night all about inspiring women of all ages and abilities to get active. We have inspiring guest speakers, a short fashion show, local experts women can chat with, sweet treats, awesome door prizes and we send everyone home with a loot bag!

This is a women’s only event so all of the guests, experts, speakers and staff are women. NO BOYS ALLOWED.img_6509-2

We start the evening by giving everyone an opportunity to walk around the store and speak to the invited experts. Each expert has a display table.

We have a stage and chairs set up for the speakers and a fashion show.  This year’s speakers were both Olympians! Sharon Donnelly spoke about TEAM…includes ‘the letters’ ME- the importance of making time for yourself and Sue Holloway spoke about the importance of keeping our daughters active.

The first SWEET event was held nine years ago. We have gone from a small group of enthusiastic women to a huge group of enthusiastic women and WE LOVE IT!  In order to ensure that everyone continues to enjoy a great experience at SWEET we started selling tickets in 2014. 100% of the money collected from ticket sales is donated to charity. This year the event sold out three weeks in advance and  we donated over $2000  to  the Ottawa School Breakfast Program. The 10th anniversary  edition of SWEET will be held on April 9th, 2017.

Bushtukah 2017 SWEET Ambassadors Program Applications

We are looking for a few Bushtukah SWEET ambassadors for 2017. Here’s the scoop!

We are looking for women of any age and any fitness level to help us spread the word about achieving your personal fitness goals.

Here is what we are looking for:

  • You must have a personal first on your fitness list for 2017. It can be your first 5k, your first marathon, your first cycle tour, your first triathlon or something else we did not think of.
  • You must volunteer at a minimum of one event in 2017.
  • You must be active on social media and willing to post updates about your gear and your adventures.
  • You must follow Bushtukah and Bushtukah Women on Facebook and be willing to provide updates about your adventures for use on Bushtukah and Bushtukah Women on Facebook. A minimum of 2 social media postings a month. You will also be asked to provide updates every 3 months.
  • You must attend a minimum of 1 Bushtukah women’s clinic.
  • You must become an active member of the SWEET Facebook group.
  • You agree to allow Bushtukah to use your posts and pictures on social media
  • You must be available to attend SWEET April 9th, 2017

Here is what we will do for you in return:

  • We will supply you with Bushtukah custom clothing appropriate for your activity (i.e. cycling jersey and shorts or tri top or running shirt)
  • You will receive an additional clothing allowance of $200 ($100 at the start of the program and $100 in July 2017) to buy clothing and gear appropriate for your activity at Bushtukah.
  • You will be eligible for at 25% discount on regular priced gear appropriate for your activity throughout 2017.

2015 Events- The Girls Run Ottawa

This was the first year for this women’s only 5k event. It’s part of the  Canadian Woman’s Running Series which encourages participation and the bringing together of women of all ages. They even have a mother and daughter division.

The race started and finished at Terry Fox. A two loop course with enthusiastic participants.

This year’s event was held September 27th no date for  next year as of yet.

This event has grown phenomenally in eight years! We have gone from a small group of enthusiastic women to a huge group of enthusiastic women and WE LOVE IT!  In order to ensure that everyone continues to enjoy a great experience at SWEET we started selling tickets in 2014. 100% of the money collected from ticket sales is donated to charity. This year the event sold out three weeks in advance and  we donated over $2000  to  Cornerstone Housing for Women. The 2016 SWEET night will be held on April 10th.

This women only event is always a winner and 2014 was the biggest yet! Over 400 women stopped by on a Sunday night to mix and mingle and get inspired.

Local experts on everything from hiking to triathlon, great treats from Artisan Bakery, coffee from Starbucks and inspiring talks by Cat Weaver and Sindy Hooper. Plus we raised $2000 for charity! The 2015 event will be held on April 12th.
